Mental Wellbeing for Performers

The entertainment industry can appear glamorous and rewarding, but it is a tough business. Singers, instrumentalists and actors working in opera, concert and theatre face unique challenges that can take a toll on their mental health. Too often, little is done to support them, and the lack of compassion and understanding around mental wellbeing in this industry remains a serious concern.

Having witnessed the consequences of this first-hand, I began training as a counsellor alongside my work as a singer. I am now completing the final stages of my training and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, working under their ethical code.

My intention is to establish a counselling practice dedicated specifically to the mental wellbeing of performers and artists — offering a warm, authentic and confidential space where clients can pause, reflect and feel safe enough to talk about whatever is going on for them.

Beyond my individual client work, I also hope to contribute to wider conversations about mental health awareness and care for performers in opera houses, theatres and orchestras across Europe. Supporting the emotional wellbeing of those who bring these art forms to life is not optional, it is a responsibility the industry must recognise.

If you would like to explore any of these themes, or discuss working together, I would be very happy to hear from you.
