
Richard Morrison was born and brought up in Glasgow. He is an Arts graduate of Aberdeen University and a prize-winning graduate of the Royal College Of Music in London, where he studied under Graziella Sciutti.
He sings regularly in Germany where he has sung numerous Opera roles including Don Giovanni, Papageno, Pelléas, Figaro Il barbiere di Siviglia, Dandini La Cenerentola, Belcore L'elisir d'amore, Enrico Lucia di Lammermoor, Germont La traviata, Marcello La bohème and Peter Hänsel und Gretel. He has appeared at Opera houses in Mainz, Mannheim, Bonn, Bremen, Schwerin, Hagen, Koblenz and Krefeld Mönchengladbach. Opera in the UK has included Count Robinson Il matrimonio segreto at Opera North; Dr Falke Die Fledermaus at Opera Holland Park and Don Alfonso Cosi fan tutte for Samling Opera, directed by Sir Thomas Allen. With the Carl Rosa Opera Company he toured the UK, Australia and New Zealand singing roles including Dr Falke Die Fledermaus and Strephon Iolanthe.Richard has extensive concert and recital repertoire. He has appeared at concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Bridgewater Hall, the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the Wigmore Hall. He has sung with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Hallé, the Northern Sinfonia, the London Mozart Players and the BBC Concert Orchestra. He has broadcast on BBC TV and Radio on numerous occasions and has appeared on Classic FM, both as a soloist and as a presenter.
On CD Richard has recorded the role of The Sultan in Sullivan's The Rose Of Persia, a BBC world premiere recording; and the title role in Edward German's Tom Jones, also a world premiere recording, on Naxos. He recently released a solo disc of Scottish songs entitled Songs Of My Home on the Scottish label, Corban Recordings.
